Episode 1

Selling Coffee

The teams were provided with a fixed and mobile unit from which they had to make and sell coffee. I was in the winning team.

As I said in the boardroom, I thought Jadine did a good job considering the situation she was put in. Yes, she’s intense and full-on, but she’s also driven, confident and has a meticulous eye for detail. I had a lot of fun working with her.

Adam and I actually intentionally wore matching jumpers and scarves – we were a real hit with the ladies/gay men in Exmouth St Market.

I chose not to learn how to make coffee as I don’t actually drink coffee, so I decided to focus on selling. I didn’t feature much in this episode as it focussed on a ‘different’ story. I was actually one of the top salespeople in this task (I kept track of my sales). My main sales method was carrying a small cup of the ground coffee and getting people to smell the quality. I organised a number of bulk sales in the form of office runs. Adam and I also secured signage and thousands of flyers for free.

The infamous dance – I’ve received a lot of comments/emails about this rating it as embarrassing/fun/cringe-worthy/cute/disgraceful/hilarious/etc. In the end, this is what it boiled down to: we were promised a substantial payment for a song AND dance routine to accompany the coffee. As you could probably tell, we had 30 secs to come up with it and we delivered. I know it was embarrassing, but we just got on with it. We did it, we had a lot of fun with it and we earnt a lot of money from it.

Bring on Week 2!
