Episode 10

Selling On Live TV

The task this week was to select products to sell on Ideal World, a live TV shopping channel. This was my first week in Stealth and my first task with Kristina, ever. I was in the winning team.

I thought it was funny that SAS and I had the same tie/shirt combo at the start of the task. This was the first task where I was actually really nervous although I think I did a good job while on-air. I definitely developed a new found respect for TV presenters. It is really challenging to speak, listen to the producers in your ear, keep an eye on which camera to speak into, listen to the floor manager – all while selling the product! I didn’t feature much in the episode (again!), but the unseen footage on the BBC website shows a good clip of my presenting skills.

We had the most awful products to choose from. Katie and I were in hysterics looking at some of the beauty products - namely some tacky 80's hair clips, spray-on tan, DIY brick laying, that wheelchair etc.

Katie and I agreed that she would lead on the panties (of course), I would lead on the foot spa and that we would work on the double sided tape (our third product) together. The panties were hilarious. We had a female model that we used for before/after shots - she actually looked worse with the panties on and Katie and I were fighting back the tears!

I was really sad to learn that Naomi got fired. It was clear that Simon was responsible for the loss. The only reason the wheelchair sold was because Tre and Naomi did a good job selling it. Simon did a ridiculous job selling Tre and Simon's products.

I was surprised at how poorly Simon did, especially given his personality. During the previous tasks, Simon had spent a great deal of time playing up to the camera. This creates a lot of tension in the team as he is easily distracted and this works against the team’s goals. However, I think he’s a bit of a maverick and SAS likes that.
